The research reveals, through the analyses of both media and literary representation of modern crises, gender and the concept of nation-state, of national identity are inseparably bound. The images of criminals are often connected to transgressed gender norms. The crime narrative describes the accused as the transgressor and thus punishes them. It has a function to cut off the transgressor from the rest of the society. It also has a function to retain the already fragile norms of the society and the ever more fragile concept of national identity intact.

通过对媒介和文学对现代性危机的再现的分析，本研究揭示了性别与民族国家、民族认同的概念是密不可分的。罪犯的形象往往与违反性别规范有关。犯罪叙事将被告描述为违法者，从而惩罚他们。它的作用是把违法者与社会的其他人隔离开来。它还有一个功能，就是保持已经脆弱的社会规范和越来越脆弱的国家认同概念不受影响。
