当該研究の目的は、イノベーティブな組織とはどのような組織かという問いを、理論的かつ実証的に考察することにある。特に、限定合理的な主体の集合である組織が、知識の組織的活用(Exploitation)と組織的探求(Exploration)というトレードオフに関して、組織としてどのように対処するかについて考察する。平成20年度は、タスクの複雑性及び補完性をパラメーター化したモデルを構築し、階層構造のないような組織においてパフォーマンスを最大にするために必要な組織内でのコミュニケーションと組織によるコントロールの度合いに関してシミュレーションを行った。この取組みは、モデルを構築してはシミュレーションを走らせ、その結果をみてモデルを変更するというプロセスを繰り返して結果、ExplorationとExploitationを同時に同じ程度行おうとする組織のパファーマンスは、複雑なタスクを不確実な環境で行う場合に、Explorationに特化した組織やExploitationにより重きを置く組織よりも低くなる事が示された。この結果は論文としてまとめ、国際学会で発表した。理論的な分析に当初の予定を大幅に上回る時間を費やしたために、本年度予定していた実証分析に向けてのデータの構築等は進んでいない。昨年度に論文としてまとめた個人の学習に関する二本の研究論文中、一本は2度国際学会で発表した。また国際学術誌から英文校正にかけた上で掲載採択との審査結果を受けた。もう一本に関しては、昨年度行った学会発表でうけたコメントをもとに改訂を行い、国際学術誌に投稿した
