本研究では対人援助サービス従事者(以下「従事者」とする)の精神的健康維持策を検討することをねらいとして、従事者の職業生活出来事と精神的健康との関連を検証した。具体的には2007年度は職業生活出来事チェックリストを作成し、2008年度にはそのチェックリストを用いて精神的健康との関連を検証した。成果として従事者が体験する「職員間の関係」や「自分の仕事に対する役割」が彼らの精神的健康に影響を与えていることが明らかになった。
