项目摘要

本研究の目的は、印象派画家カミーユ・ピサロの芸術理念を、19世紀前半の屋外油彩スケッチ制作からの影響をはじめとする、多角的な観点から考察することにある。昨年度の研究では、ヴァランシエンヌによる屋外風景スケッチ制作との近似性を考察する中で、ピサロが基本的には実景を主題に選びつつも、自身の内的構想に重きを置いた絵画実践を行っていたことが判明した。絵画制作における精神的活動を重視する傾向は、自然を前にした際の直截的な感覚経験を重んじる印象派の理念とは異質なものであり、したがって、この傾向はピサロの芸術理念を解明する上で看過し得ない特質だと判断した。それゆえ、本年度はピサロ作品における思想・精神世界の表現に注目し、2つの作品分析を行った。①昨年度に引き続き、1880年代の《りんご採り》（大原美術館所蔵）とアナーキズム思想の関連を考察した。具体的には、果実摘みの図像伝統に関わる補足調査、ならびにポントワーズの地理的特性や当時の農業技術について新規調査を実施した。その結果、ピサロがアナーキズムの達成された平和な世界像を絵画化するにあたり、「黄金時代」の図像伝統を踏襲するのみならず、その舞台として、近代化の進んだ豊かな農村地域を選んでいたことが分かった。②1890年代の《小川に足を浸ける女》（シカゴ美術館所蔵）を新たな研究対象に据え、内的表象へと向かうピサロの芸術傾向を考察した。まず、水浴に関する歴史的資料を精査し、画中の光景と現実の実践との相違を確認した上で、自然回帰の思想との関わりに注目しながら、水浴という行為が包含する象徴的意味を考察した。また、書簡の記述を基にアルベール・オーリエの象徴主義芸術論に対するピサロの見解を分析し、彼が基本的には観念の絵画化に肯定的な立場を取っていたことを明らかにした。
