本研究の目的は、細胞レベルでの生体材料の最適化をはかることである。デンタルインプラントは上皮を貫通して顎骨内に固定されるのがその特徴で、部位によって接している生体組織が異なるため、材料表面に求められる生物学的特性が部位によって異なる。本研究の成果より、チタン表面を量子線照射処理することにより細胞特異的親和性(Cell-selective affinity)を付与できる可能性が示唆された。
