本研究では、フランス帝国の旧植民地が、植民地化、独立戦争、社会主義化・内紛、経済自由化など、幾多の危機に直面しつつ多元的に再編される経緯を分析した。経済的秩序はとくに商工会議所、技術的秩序は技術教育を事例に、組織史的な連続性と断絶性を比較分析した。地域としては旧インドシナおよび北アフリカに重点を置き、旧英植民地に増して危機が深刻化した旧仏植民地を比較分析した。
