山口県下の小学校教員2名と中学校理科教員2名とで,理科教育における系統的な環境教育の在り方に関する基本方針を確認し,在り方を検討するため,それぞれの校種の作業班を立ち上げた。小学校作業班では,各教科書会社の理科の教科書と教師用指導書を精査し,教材作成を行った。その際,生物多様性や生態系サービスの中心概念と地球環境との関連を意識させた上で,持続可能な発展のために生物多様性を保全することがいかに大切であるかを子供たちに認識させ,理解させる授業が可能となるように配慮した。また,子どもたちの環境保護に対する意識の変容を調べるため,アンケート項目の検討も行った。小学校作業班では,理科の教科書と教師用指導書の精査に手間取ったこともあり,平成23年度に実施できたのは,ここまでであった。実際の授業の実施とその効果の検証は,次年度に持ち越すこととなった。中学校作業班では,現行の教科書をベースに,教材作成を行った。また,DVDを含むマルチメディアの活用も積極的に取り入れた。年間授業計画の関係上,年度末になったが,マルチメディアを駆使した授業を試行的に実施し,生徒たちの反応から改善点を見い出すことができた。なお,中学校作業班では,各教科書会社の理科の教科書と教師用指導書を精査することは,次年度の課題とした。平成23年度の研究では,教科書,教師用指導書その他の書籍および資料の収集を行い,それらの精査を通じて得た知見を教材作成に活かすことを目指したが,それらの精査に手間取ったため,研究の成果は企画した教材の一部を作成することにとどまった。教材を整備した上でそれらを活用した授業を行い,その効果を検証するとともにその成果を公表することは,今後の課題である。
