Structural and magnetochemical investigations into spin-spin exchange couplings in homo- and heteronuclear d-f complexes

In the preparative part of the project organometallic europium(II) andgadolinium(III) species will be combined with reactive organometallictransition metal molecules. The former systems comprise di- andtricyclopentadienides, whereas the latter systems consist ofparamagnetic transition metal cyclopentadienyl halides. Theinvestigations are of interest with respect to the exchange pathwaylanthanide--halogen--transition metal. In the theoretical part of the project the computer program formagnetochemical analysis of homodinuclear transition metal andlanthanide compounds will be extended with regard to the heteronuclearsystems under investigation.
