本研究は、「自然の創造主」としての神の意図・目的がアダム・スミスの道徳哲学の内部で理論的前提として重要な役割を果たしていることを示し、そのことでさらには、『道徳感情論』、『国富論』等の著作を含めたスミス哲学全体の理論的前提としての神に光を当てることを目的としていた。特に本年度は、その思想が現代哲学や道徳哲学以外の哲学分野、応用的問題において持つ意義を検討することを目標としていた。研究成果として特に注目すべきは、査読を経て採用された2本の紀要論文である。これらの論文はそれぞれ、動機付けの内在主義/外在主義と経験的実証の問題、並びに、道徳の普遍性/相対性という伝統的問題を、現代道徳哲学とスミス道徳哲学との連関という新しい角度から論じたものである。前者の主題に関する論文では、サイコパスや後天性ソシオパスのような(「見かけ上の」)外在主義の事例が存在し、彼らが加害者となるとき、私たちは彼らを処罰するべきであるのかどうかという応用倫理的問題を、アダム・スミスにおける「正義」という観点から検討した。後者の主題に関する論文では、慣習に基づく道徳の文化相対性の問題を扱ったスミス『道徳感情論』第5部における議論の詳細な読解に基づき、その規約説的・相対主義的解釈を退け、人間本性としての道徳感情を基礎とした道徳の普遍性を唱えるスミス道徳哲学理論が妥当することを論じた。また、現代の生物学の哲学との関連では、日本科学哲学会大会におけるダーウィン生誕200周年記念ワークショップの提題者として、アダム・スミスらイギリス自然神学の系譜からダーウィンが受け継いだ合目的性の観点の重要性を論じ、さらに、道徳哲学と生物学の哲学との関連で、適応主義が持つ合目的性の観点を追究し、適応主義から導かれる道徳判断の機能に関する仮説について論じた。

This study is based on the premise and effect of "Nature's Creator" and "God's Will" and the purpose of "God's Light" in the internal theory of moral philosophy.
