In order to retrieve deformed images fast, we developed a method for approximating an image by a polynomial and realizing high-speed template matching with fixed position and aspect ratio. As an application of the developed method, a real-time system for acquiring images and retrieving objects was constructed. In concrete, as an intelligent transportation system, a system for detecting and recognizing a traffic light was developed.
