An analysis of the developmental tendencies of children diagnosed as having sick house syndrome.

本研究旨在探讨5~16岁病院综合征(SHS)患儿(5~16岁)的精神运动发育情况。采用WISC-III对儿童进行智商评定，并由家长填写问卷对儿童的发展史和日常生活质量进行评定。同时对室内和室外环境质量进行了测量。所有儿童的WISC-III结果显示，所有儿童的平均PIQ显著低于VIQ，尽管他们的FIQ是正常的。两组比较，未改善组的WISC-III成绩明显低于改良组，尤其是PIQ明显降低。根据问卷调查结果，未改善组的儿童在视觉任务上表现较差，这反映在PIQ水平上。此外，没有改善的小组中有一半停止上学，并报告了不明原因的投诉。结果表明，SHS儿童不仅在身体上处于高危状态，而且在心理上也处于高危状态。

The object of this study was to investigate the psychomotor development of children (from 5-16 years old : n=17) who were diagnosed as having sick house syndrome (SHS). The IQs of the children were evaluated by WISC-III,and their developmental history and the quality of their daily life were assessed by a questionnaire answered by their parents. Indoor and outdoor environmental quality also was measured. The results of WISC-III of all children showed that the average PIQ of all children was significantly lower than VIQ, though their FIQ was normal. Comparing the two groups, the result of WISC-III of the group rated unimproved was significantly lower than the improved group ; in particular their PIQ was remarkably lower. According to the result of the questionnaire, the children of unimproved group tended to be poor at the visual tasks which reflected to the level of PIQ. Furthermore, a half of the unimproved group stopped going to school, and reported unidentified complaints. The results suggested that the children with SHS might be in high risk not only physically, but also psychologically.
