The aim of this research is to clarify the importation of European culture during the Taisho Period through the activity of Honma Hisao, who was born in 1886, studied at Waseda University under Tsubouchi Shoyo and Shimamura Hogetsu. He was active as literary critic and engaged in importing European thoughts during the Taisho Period and later became a scholar specializing in English literature as well as Meiji literature.Through Honma's activities, I attempt to grasp the characteristics of the importation of European culture during the Taisho Period in relation to the ethos of the time which is different from those of Meiji or Showa Period.

本间久雄出生于1886年，曾就读于早稻田大学，师从Tsubouchi Shoyo和Shimamura Hogetsu。本间久雄的研究目的是通过本间久雄的活动，阐明欧洲文化在大正时期的输入。他在大正时期积极从事文学批评和引进欧洲思想，后来成为专门研究英国文学和明治文学的学者。笔者试图通过本间的活动，把握大正时期欧洲文化输入与明治、昭和时期不同的时代精神的特点。
