The role of erythropoietin in the hypothalamo-hypophyseal system

促红细胞生成素（EPO）是一种重要的造血细胞因子，内源性EPO对缺氧损伤具有神经保护作用。本研究观察了缺氧条件下丘脑-垂体系统以及中枢神经系统其他部位EPO-mRMA的表达。EPO-mRNA表达的时间依赖性分为两种模式：缺氧反应性或恒定。下丘脑-垂体系统中的两种模式都暗示了EPO基因表达的区域特异性控制。

Erythropoietin (EPO) is a crucial hematopoietic cytokine, and it is suggested that endogenous EPO has a neuroprotective function from hypoxic damage. In this study, the expression of EPO-mRMA was observed in hypothalamo-hypophyseal system under the hypoxic condition, as well as other parts of the central nervous system. The time-dependent expression of EPO-mRNA was divided into two patterns ; hypoxia-responsive or constant. Both patterns shown in the hypothalamo-hypophyseal system imply the region-specific control of EPO gene expression.
