Histologic analysis of tumor-associated antigen WT1 specific CTL with related immunological environment in the brain of malignant brain tumor patients.

For revealing the therapeutic mechanism of Wilms Tumor (WT1) peptide vaccination for cancer patients, we started research on in situ identification of WT1 specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes(CTLs) with malignant brain tumor sections from glioblastoma multiform (GBM) patients. Furthermore, we developed semi-quantitative analysis of WT1 protein and investigated expression of WT1 protein in tumor cells and tumor vessels of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) compared to that of GBM adjacent normal-appearing tissues (control tissues). WT1 expression was significantly stronger in vessels of tumor lesions than that of control tissues.
