The aim of this study is to investigate a part of molecular regulatory mechanism of formation and maintenance of the periodontal ligament. I used the tissue sample of periodontal ligament during eruption and the periodontal ligament of the erupted tooth to investigate the genes which has a remarkable difference of the expression level, cyclopedically. I investigated the functions and the expression patterns of the genes likely to regulate formation and regulation of periodontal ligament in vivo and in vitro.Fibromodulin and some other genes presented different mRNA expression level between the periodontal tissue of erupting murine molar and the periodontal tissue of the erupted murine molar. However, it was thought that we required the device of the further investigation method and the investigation about other genes because it was difficult to get reproducibility of the investigation in each cell line.
