Focusing on high-tech startups, including biotech and semiconducter startups, research was done to clarify how those startups acquire intellectual capital for business development. Especially, the role of scientific advisory board : SAB in high-tech startups was investigated by the interview with top management of selected companies. It was observed that the involvement of academia in business depends on business fields and SAB plays important roles in biotechnology startups.
