研究最終年度にあたる本年度においては,昨年度までに得られた知見,すなわち(1)「政党間競争から生じる相互作用のシステム」というG・サルトーリが提唱した動態的な「政党システム」理解が正当なものであるとの知見,および,(2)「政党間競争は何を目標に展開されるのか」を考える際,政党行動(目標)類型の複数性に関するK・ストロームの指摘がとりわけ重要であるとの知見,この2つの知見を踏まえ,複数の政党間競争とそこに生じる複数の相互作用システム(=政党システム)が,競争結果(システム出力)が次の競争の初期条件(システム入力)を形成する形で時系列的に連鎖するモデル(=政党間競争・政党システムの連鎖モデル)を構築することに努め,まずは日本比較政治学会2010年度研究大会において,その暫定的な成果を発表した。年度の後半は,政党研究の中堅第一人者たちとの対話を通じてこのモデルの妥当性を探り,それをさらに洗練する作業に充てた。最終盤に予定していた意見聴取会2回が,東日本大震災の影響で中止のやむなきに至ったことは残念であったが,寄せられた批判的意見を踏まえつつ,早期に学術研究論文をまとめ,政党間競争理解の抜本的見直しを通じた「政党システム」論の刷新の必要性を学界に向けて唱えたい。なお,年度の半ばに論文「「理念なき政党政治」の理念型」を発表したが,これは,主要政党の類型変容が現代デモクラシーの動態をいかに変化させ,さらにそれに応じて現代デモクラシーの最も根幹に位置する制度的装置たる選挙のあり方がいかなる変容を蒙らざるを得ないのかを,原理論的モデルとして記述したものである。本研究が当初掲げていた,競争戦略をメルクマールとする新たな政党タイポロジーの開発という研究目標は十分に達成できなかったものの,本論文の執筆を通じ,政党類型論を政党組織構造論から解き放つことにより,新たな議論が展開できることが確認できたと考える。
