ラフ集合理論での粒度の考え方を学習理論へ応用し、識別対象のデータを識別に最適な粒度で離散化する手法を検討した。粒度の最適化は学習サンプルの識別状況を情報量基準で評価することで行った。最適化した各特徴の粒度がその特徴の識別への貢献度評価を与えることを確認できた。従来法では各特徴の取捨選択の指標しか得られないのに対し、提案手法では特徴そのものをどの程度の精度で記述するべきかという指標を得ることができた。
