项目摘要

本研究は、福岡市小学校英語活動の発展を目指し、演劇表現活動を取り入れた児童英語カリキュラム開発・実施の提案である。本研究は、第一に「演劇の一環であるEducational Drama教授法を取り入れた小学校英語活動の推進」を行った。この課程では、「ドラマの手法/Educational Drama(演劇表現活動)」を使った英語活動カリキュラムを導入した。このカリキュラムの「開発」「実行」「振り返り」の作業を文部科学省「小学校における英語活動等に関する国際理解活動推進拠点校」である福岡市横手小学校の教員と共に行った。本研究代表者は、6年生2クラスの英語活動に長期にわたって参加し、教員と児童に直接現場で指導した。その結果、言語学習中心であった英語活動が活性化され、英語を「覚える」活動ではなく、英語でコミュニケーションをとる「楽しさ」を実感できる活動へ変わった。また、英語に苦手意識があった児童や、学習意欲が低かった児童も、生徒主体の「ドラマの手法」特に「なりきる」ことを通して、「自己再発見」「他者再発見」ができ、積極的に授業に参加する姿が見られた。本研究者が現場で直接指導することで、先生方が日頃抱える英語活動に対する不安が解消され、担任中心で行う英語のコミュニケーション活動への取り組み方を直に伝えることができた。第二に「小学校英語活動分野においての教員教育・研修」を福岡市立小学校教員が主催する「英語活動サークル」や「英語活動研究委員会」の定例会にて行った。そこでは「ドラマの手法」を用いたオーストラリアでの外国語教育の事例や、横手小学校の実践経過報告を発表した。19年6月30日に行われた横手小学校英語活動公開授業にて、「ドラマの手法」を取り入れたカリキュラムを起用した6年生の授業を400人近くの教育関係者が見学し、児童の活き活きとした積極的な姿からこのカリキュラムの成果を実感した。さらに「ドラマの手法」を広く理解してもらう為に、Japan Drama/Theatre and Education Association(JADEA)の学会を設立し、20年2月14日15日の両日にJADEAシンポジウムを開催した。オーストラリアや台湾から著名な教育者を招き講演とワークショップを行い、本研究者も横手小学校の教員と共に本研究結果発表を行った。シンポジウムには、教育関係者をはじめ大学生や一般市民、多数の方々が参加された。

The Japan Drama/Theatre and Education Association(JADEA) was established on February 14, 2015 to promote the development of the Japan Drama/Theatre and Education Association. The results of this study are presented by teachers from Hengshou Primary School. College students, the general public, and the majority of the public participate in the program.
