マグマ中の揮発成分含有量はマグマの生成条件や噴火に伴う表層環境への影響を制約する上で最重要な要素の一つである。これを定量的に見積もるため、最も有効なクロムスピネル中のメルト包有物の揮発性成分の分析法確立を試みた。二次イオン質量分析計(SIMS)分析用の様々な揮発性成分含有量のスタンダードガラスを作成したが、絶対量の測定には諸問題があり今のところ確立していない。しかしながら、本研究のコアとなる論文やそれに派生した論文が研究期間中に印刷され大きな研究成果を残せた。
