Holocene marine terraces occur on the coastal plains around the Aira caldera in the Kagoshima bay, southern Kyushu. The chronology and distribution of the elevation of those terrace surfaces and deposits were examined on the basis of tephra beds and^<14> C dates. As a result, Holocene upwarping centred by the Aira caldera, previously suggested, was confirmed. This upwarping is likely related to the volcanic activity of the Aira caldera.

全新世海洋阶地出现在九州南部鹿儿岛湾的爱腊破火山口周围的沿海平原上。根据火山灰层和^ C年代测定，对这些阶地表面和沉积物的年代和高程分布进行了研究<14>。结果，证实了先前提出的以艾拉破火山口为中心的全新世隆起。这种隆起可能与艾拉火山口的火山活动有关。
