项目摘要

本研究の目的は、視野闘争現象(左右眼に提示される刺激像が大きく異なる場合に生じる知覚的葛藤状態で、その際には各眼の刺激像が交互に入れ替わって知覚される)の検討を通じ、両眼間での情報統合メカニズムを明らかにすることである。通常、闘争刺激の見えはランダムに変動するが、それに先立ち別の刺激(先行刺激)を提示することでその見えを変調させることができる。本年度の研究では、左右眼で色もしくは方位が異なる闘争刺激に対する見えの変調効果を検討し、視野闘争の解決に対する視覚属性の影響と時間条件による闘争の解決様式の変化を検討した。実験では、先行刺激の提示眼や刺激属性、そして、闘争刺激を提示するタイミングや提示時間を操作した。実験の結果、競合する視覚属性にかかわらず、時間条件に応じて、提示眼に基づく変調(先行刺激とは異なる眼に提示した刺激が知覚される)と刺激属性に基づく変調(先行刺激とは異なる刺激が知覚される)という2種類の変調効果が生じることが明らかとなった。前者の変調は、先行刺激が消えた直後に闘争刺激を短時間提示しだ場合に顕著に見られ、後者の変調は、闘争刺激を比較的長く提示した場合に顕著に見られた。ただし、提示眼に基づく変調効果の時間特性は異なる視覚属性間でほぼ一致していたのに対し、刺激属性に基づく変調効果においては、視覚属性間で異なった傾向がいくつか認められた。以上の結果から、視野闘争の解決には、提示眼や刺激属性に基づく時間特性の異なる複数の処理過程が関与していることが示唆される。さらに、今回の実験パラダイムを用いると刺激属性に基づいた視野闘争解決過程を検討することが可能であり、両眼間での情報統合メカニズムにおける異なる視覚属性処理の諸特性を明らかにするための有用なツールとなることが期待される。
