平成21-22年度の研究課題は、「南方熊楠・土宜法龍往復書簡の研究」である。近代を代表する植物学、博物学の研究者に数えあげられる南方熊楠(1867-1941)は、長年にわたって真言僧、土宜法龍に向けて多くの手紙を書いた。手紙に書き記された内容は、仏教論を皮切りとして、科学論、比較宗教論など様々な話題が豊富に盛り込まれており、熊楠の思想を知るための第一級の資料であると熊楠研究者等によって評価されている。平成22年度は、前年度に刊行された奥山直司・雲藤等・神田英昭編『高山寺蔵南方熊楠書翰-土宜法龍宛1893-1922』(藤原書店)を出版したことを土台にして研究を進めた。まず本書の編集作業を通じて得た研究成果をもとに、研究発表をおこなった。発表の場は、京都・宗教系大学院連合主催院生論文発表会(題目:「南方マンダラの新解釈-高山寺資料を中心に」)、説話文学会・仏教文学会合同12月例会シンポジウム「南方熊楠の説話と仏教-仏性・性・身体」(「真言密教-南方熊楠と真言僧との交流」)である。一方で土宜法龍に関する基礎的研究を進めた。高山寺に所蔵される土宜の米欧日記の解読並びに翻刻をおこない、さらにパリのギメ美術館等で調査をおこなった。その成果の一端は、国際日本文化研究センターの共同研究会「仏教からみた前近代と近代」(研究代表:末木文美士)において報告(「近代仏教史上における土宜法龍-主に1893-1894年における世界一周旅行を中心に」)した。また本年度は、国際日本文化研究センター共同研究員に加わることができた。

In this paper, we have obtained the results of the research and the form of the research. The academic staff of the Kyoto Department of Religion University and the academy of the Kyoto Department of Religion University jointly promote the discussion of students (item: "the New interpretation of the Southern Chinese Academy of religious Sciences-the Information Center of the Gaoshan Temple"), and the regular meeting of the Association of Literary and Cultural Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Literature and Literature in December. On the one hand, the research on the foundation of the land suitability law has been improved. In the temple of the Gaoshan Temple, it is appropriate to read and engrave the music, beauty, beauty, and so on. At one end of the paper, the International Japanese Cultural Studies Co-Research Society (Research Representative: Mumu Meishi) published a report on the study of pre-modern times (research representative: Maishi Meishi). In the history of modern Japanese culture, the report was published in the history of modern Japanese culture. Co-researchers of the International Japanese Cultural Studies Institute and the International Institute of Japanese Cultural Studies will participate in this year's training program.
