This work aims to develop light source and ultra-high speed optical transmission technologies in the 1. 1μm band. First, we demonstrated a 10 Gbit/s transmission over 5 km with a 1. 1μm directly modulated single-mode VCSEL. Next, we developed a 10 GHz, 1. 1ps regeneratively mode-locked Yb fiber laser and optical time division multiplexing and demultiplexing circuits. Then, with these devices, we demonstrated the first 160 Gbit/s ultra-high speed optical transmission system in the 1. 1μm band.
