An Empirical Study on Farmers' Risk Perception and Index-type Agricultural Insurance

开展农户对农业保险新产品的风险认知和需求调查。我们的分析证明，1)许多农民意识到他们的个人产量和基于地区的产量之间存在一定的关系，2)需要一些农业收入稳定计划的农民的数量正在增加，3)60%的农民对以合理的保费提供更高覆盖范围的基于地区的指数保险和承保因低产量和低价格的组合而造成的严重收入损失的收入保险感兴趣。

We carried out a survey of farmers’ risk perception and demand for new agricultural insurance products. Our analysis proved that, i) Many farmers are aware that there is a certain relation between their personal yields and area-based yields, ii) The number of farmers who need some farm income stabilization programs is increasing, iii) 60% of farmers are interested in the area-based index insurance which provides higher coverage at a reasonable premium, and the revenue insurance which covers severe revenue losses from a combination of low yield and low price.
