Investigation of Health utility measure using by item response theory

Subjects were 442 patients (The mean ages were 74.8±12.4 years, including 236 women) comprising 296 patients with cerebrovascular disease and 146 patients with hip fracture. Global utility score was -0.01, vision was 0.81, hearing was 0.82, speech was 0.68, ambulation was 0.21, dexterity was 0.67, emotion was 0.63, cognition was 0.44 and pain was 0.67. Ambulation and cognition were lower score.By IRT, difficulty were moderate and discrimination were excellent (vision ; 0.56, hearing ; 0.84, speech ; 1.57, ambulation ; 1.29, dexterity ; 0.86, emotion ; 1.02, cognition ; 1.83 ; pain ; 0.71) in HUI3.In conclusion, HUI have high discrimination in speech, ambulation, emotion and cognition. HUI3 indicate an available measure in rehabilitation.
