Gastric cancer remains the second leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. HE4(WFDC2) is expressed in gastric metaplasia, intestinal metaplasia, and in the majority of intestinal type and signet ring gastric adenocarcinomas. Histamine and gastrin play important role in not only stimulated gastric acid secretion but also coordination of intramucosal growth and lineage differentiation.
