この研究は、現代日本のメディアによる日本戦後史の描写と神話化を探ることを目的としている。具体的には、NHK番組「プロジェクトX」を通して、団塊世代と高度成長期の美化を問題視した。このドキュメンタリーを歴史学の視点から分析し、2000年前後に展開された所謂「自由主義史観」とマスコミとの関係を論じ、「プロジェクトX」を一つの大衆的な影響力を持つパブリック・ヒストリーとして捉えた。この研究の主な意義・重要性としては、歴史学とメディア学を繋げることによって、戦後史の全体像と学術的アプローチを、他分野的に再考察する点にあると考えている。主な成果としては、2本の研究論文の執筆と国際学会(Association for Asian Studies全米アジア研究会)での研究発表がある。論文は2冊の共著図書(Mirror of an Uncertain Age : Japan at the Dawn of a Post-Industrial Era及びTrains, Modernity, and Cultural Production)に掲載される運びになり、両方とも来年度に発行される予定である。論文と発表はすべて英文であり、研究成果を国際的に広めることができた。

The study of modern Japan and the description of Japan's post-history and mythological exploration The specific NHK group "Top X" is open to the public, and the block generation is highly developed and beautified. This paper analyzes the relationship between the history of liberalism and the influence of the masses around 2000. The main significance and importance of this research are as follows: the history of science and technology, the overall image of post-history and academic science, and the re-examination of other fields. The author of the research paper and the research report of the Association for Asian Studies (AAS) Two volumes of the paper, Mirror of an Uncertain Age : Japan at the Dawn of a Post-Industrial Era and Trains, Modernity, and Cultural Production, reveal the implications of the future year. The paper is published in English, and the research results are international.
