项目摘要

研究計画に基づき、パキスタンの国立博物館(カラチ)およびタキシラ博物館、タキシラ・インスティテユート(イスラマバード、カイデ・アザム大学内)、イスラマバード博物館におけるガンダーラ彫刻作例の調査・写真撮影を行った。ただし、当初予定していたペシャワール博物館、スワート博物館等については現地の政情不安を鑑み調査を断念し、代替案としてタキシラ周辺の諸遺跡(ダルマラージカー、シルカップ、ジャンディアール、ラッタピンドゥ、ジナン・ワリ・デリー、バダルプル、モーラ・モラドゥ、ピプラーン、ジョーリアーン)およびインドのバローダ博物館、バローダMS大学内博物館において調査・写真撮影を行った。いずれの博物館においても装身具など、彫刻作例の細部を実見し、撮影することができたため、本研究のテーマである菩薩像の装身具の研究に資するものとなった。また、カイデ・アザム大学教授アシュラフ・カーン氏と面会し、氏が発掘を行い、ガンダーラには珍しい壁画の作例が出土したジナン・ワリ・デリーの出土品や現在発掘作業中のバダルプルについての情報を得ることができた。バローダ博物館においてもガンダーラ彫刻作例の調査・写真撮影を行い、バローダMS大学内博物館においてはデヴニモリ遺跡の出土品の調査・写真撮影を行っただけでなく、同大学教授P.アジトプラサド博士や博物館学芸員でもあるA.パテル博士と面会し、上記遺跡や近年発掘が進められている周辺の仏教遺跡についての情報を得ることができた。デヴニモリ遺跡の仏像や装飾文様はガンダーラの遺跡を受けているとされており、後期およびクシャン朝時代以後のガンダーラ彫刻の編年を検討する際の資料として活用できるものである。
