Literati Networks and Chouchangshi(Responsory Poetry) in the Mid-Northern Song Dynasty

本文试图通过分析北宋中期文人欧阳修、梅尧臣、苏舜钦等人所建立的网络的性质，阐明这些网络及其构成要素在形成宋词风格中所起的重要作用。具体来说，我调查了（1）苏氏兄弟如何苏舜元、苏舜钦二人的唱和诗风格由联句转向了咏叹，他们力图在作品中进一步发展中唐韩愈、孟郊的非传统风格（联诗）至慈云（2）欧阳修的作品如何表现出他被贬夷陵后，并没有沉湎于自己的不幸，他把精力集中在当地的风俗文化上，试图将自己的风格与韩愈的文学相结合。这一点在欧阳自流亡回国后所作的《忆山诗胜语》中有明显的体现。

My research has sought to analyze the nature of networks established by Mid-Northern Song literati such as Ouyang Xiu, Mei Yaochen and Su Shunqin and elucidate the important role these networks and their constituents played in shaping the style of Song Poetry. Specifically, I have investigated(1) how the brothers Su(Su Shunyuan and Su Shunqin) ambitiously attempted to further develop the unconventional style of Han Yu and Meng Jiao of the Mid-Tang Period in their works as their responsory poetry style changed from lianju(linked poetry) to ciyun(responsory poetry with rhyme) and(2) how Ouyang Xiu's works show that, following his punitive exile to Yiling, rather than dwell on his misfortune, he instead focused his energies on local customs and culture, attempting to integrate his style with the literature of Han Yu. This is clearly reflected in Ouyang's Yishan shi Shengyu("Reminiscing on the Mountains and Showing this poem to Shengyu"), a work which was written after he returned from exile to work in the central government.
