Research on the technical improvement and spread of woodworking lathes in Japan

明治时期漆器或木材车削产品领域的木工车床的改进。会津漆器产品区的铃木式车床和山中漆器产品区的“山中式”车床在非常广泛的区域内通过其他产品区域传播。在明治30年（1897年）获得专利的铃木式车床的持有者是kijiya集团，普通的当地车工。虽然这台车床使漆器的木材车削量产成为可能，但在普及后出现了许多困难。从“山中式”车床的传播中可以清楚地看出，专门的车床制造商存在，拥有杰出技能的工匠在产品领域之间移动。此外，在博览会或竞争展览中的获奖历史保证了他们的技术，并成为车床传播的一个因素。

Improvement of the woodworking lathes advanced at lacquer ware or wood turning product areas in the Meiji term. A Suzuki style lathe of the Aizu lacquer ware product area and a "Yamanaka style" lathe of the Yamanaka lacquer ware product area spread through other product areas over a very wide area. The bearers of a Suzuki style lathe which acquired the patent in Meiji 30(1897) were kijiya group, ordinary local turners. Although this lathe enabled mass-production of wood turning for lacquer ware, many difficulties were followed on spread.It became clear from the spread of "Yamanaka style" lathe that the special lathe manufacturer existed and craftsmen holding the outstanding skill moved between product areas. Moreover, the award history in an exposition or a competitive exhibition guaranteed their skill, and became one factor of the spread of lathes.
