Patterns and Dynamism of the Interstate Rapprochement in the Middle East

本研究项目的目的是通过对国家和非国家行为者之间的对话、谈判和调解进行实证分析，探索中东国家间和解的模式和动力。该地区作为主权国家体系的国际关系，虽然可以在国际关系现实主义的语境中得到一定程度的理解，但不应忽视的是，该地区深受阿拉伯和/或穆斯林等身份认同因素的影响。此外，中东国家的外交政策不仅以国家行为者的动态为特征，而且还以非国家行为者的动态为特征，其调整是基于政策议程和身份的。国家和非国家行为者为和解所作的一系列努力似乎确保了该地区的稳定。

The aim of this research project is to explore patterns and dynamism of the interstate rapprochement in the Middle East through empirical analysis about dialogue, negotiation and mediation among the state and non-state actors. Although the international relations of the region, as the sovereign state system, can be understood to some extent in the context of the IR realism, it should not be ignored that it has been deeply affected by the identity factors such as being Arab and/or Muslim. Furthermore, the foreign policies of the Middle Eastern states are characterized by not only dynamics of the state actors, but also of non-state actors whose alignments are based on policy agendas as well as identities. Stability of the region seems to be secured by such a series of efforts of the state and non-state actors for rapprochement.
