Comprehensive Study on the static and dynamic aspects of the Ethiopian Languages and the Construction of the Database using GIS

这个项目有两个目标。第一个目标是明确奥瓦皮亚的Omotic、Cushitic和Nilo-Saharan语言的静态和动态方面。二是利用地理信息系统建立这些语言的数据库。我们成功地收集了几种语言的基本语言信息，并对社会语言方面进行了调查，特别是文字系统的引入问题。沿着这些工作，我们开发了我们的数据库系统，使其更适合其他语言学家，不仅是那些渴望了解这些语言的语言结构的人，而且对语言类型学感兴趣的人。

There were two objectives in this project. The first objective is to make it clear the static and dynamic aspects of the Omotic, Cushitic and Nilo-Saharan languages of Ethioipia. The second is to construct the database of these languagese using GIS. We have succeeded in collecting basic linguistic information of the several languages and made surveys on the socio-linguistic aspect, especiallly the problem of the introduction of the writing system.Along with these works we have developed our database system and made it more usable for other linguists not only who are eager to know about the linguistic structures of those languages but also who are interested in the linguistic typology.
