There were two objectives in this project. The first objective is to make it clear the static and dynamic aspects of the Omotic, Cushitic and Nilo-Saharan languages of Ethioipia. The second is to construct the database of these languagese using GIS. We have succeeded in collecting basic linguistic information of the several languages and made surveys on the socio-linguistic aspect, especiallly the problem of the introduction of the writing system.Along with these works we have developed our database system and made it more usable for other linguists not only who are eager to know about the linguistic structures of those languages but also who are interested in the linguistic typology.

该项目有两个目标。第一个目标是弄清楚埃塞俄比亚奥莫提语、库希特语和尼罗-撒哈拉语的静态和动态方面。二是利用GIS构建这些语言的数据库。我们成功地收集了几种语言的基本语言信息，并对社会语言学方面进行了调查，特别是书写系统的引入问题。随着这些工作，我们开发了我们的数据库系统，并使其对于其他语言学家来说更加有用，不仅对那些渴望了解这些语言的语言结构而且对语言类型学感兴趣的人来说。
