This research dealt with Maeno Ryotaku(1723 -1803), a physician and Dutch scholar, in order to explicate the actual circumstances and historical significance of the early Dutch Studies in Edo period. In the result, after collecting and analyzing Maeno’s works and related materials including Dutch books , it became clear that he was the pioneer not only in Western medicine but also in the studies of Dutch language and Russian history, and that he was more of a kind of linguist than a physician. Moreover I obtained new information concerning the relation between Maeno’s translation works and the shogunate’s foreign policy. So I could try to revise the existing biography of Maeno Ryotaku.

本研究以荷兰医生、学者前野良宅（1723年-1803年）为对象，旨在阐明江户时代早期荷兰研究的实际情况和历史意义。结果，在收集和分析了前野的著作和包括荷兰书籍在内的相关资料后，我们发现他不仅是西医的先驱，而且是荷兰语言和俄罗斯历史研究的先驱，而且他更像是一位语言学家而不是一位医生。此外，我还获得了关于前野翻译作品与幕府外交政策之间关系的新信息。所以我可以尝试修改现有的前野良宅传记。
