Historical Studies of Inherited Tradition and Modern Transformation in Buddhism among China, Japan and Taiwan.

本研究主要探讨日治时期佛教在台湾被视为一种历史或传统文化的过程。它考察了中国佛教徒在台湾的影响和台湾居民引起的重大事件。我分析了居民如何解释这些事件，并使它们成为自己的历史和传统的一部分。在日本和中国的双重影响下，“历史”和“传统”在台湾被建构和赋予了意义。我认为，台湾居民将佛教发展成为他们重要的文化资源之一。

This research focuses on the process of Buddhism being regarded as a historical or traditional culture in Taiwan during the Japanese colonial period. It examines the Chinese Buddhists' influence in Taiwan and significant occurrences caused by Taiwanese inhabitants. I analyze how the inhabitants interpreted those occurrences and made them a part of their own history and traditions. “History" and “tradition" have been constructed and given meaning in Taiwan under the influence of both Japan and China. I maintain that Taiwanese inhabitants developed Buddhism into one of their vital cultural resources.
