This research project aims to describe Islamic sacred sites locates in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China comprehensively, based on information acquired from written materials as well as results of field researches. Specifically, we have achieved series of research tasks such as collection of mazar-related accounts in written materials(travelogues, gazetteers, historiographies, hagiographies and documentary sources), conducting field researches intensively in Kashgar region, organizing presentation panel focusing on methodology of mazar-description and conducting individual studies on mazars. As an end product of this project, comprehensive data base enlisted over 400 sacred sites has been created.

本研究旨在通过对新疆维吾尔自治区伊斯兰教圣地的文字资料和实地考察，对新疆伊斯兰教圣地进行全面的描述。具体而言，我们完成了一系列研究任务，如收集书面材料（游记，地名录，历史，传记和文献资料）中与马扎尔有关的记录，在喀什地区进行密集的实地研究，组织以马扎尔描述方法为重点的报告小组，并对马扎尔进行个人研究。作为这一项目的最终产品，已建立了一个综合数据库，其中包括400多个圣地。
