◇平成23年度は、(1)「科学」(2)「美術」を中心に、比較文学における先行研究の成果を参照しつつ、漱石自身や同時代における国内外の科学論・芸術論などを以下の手順により検証した。(1)「虞美人草」(明治四十年)を中心に、科学的客観性が近代社会の価値観に影響を与える中で、作中に描写された倫理観について検討し、またこうした内容を表現する上で、造形芸術との相互関係から抽出された美文的文体が選択されたことの意義を考え、活字論文として投稿した。また漱石の「文学論ノート」の精読を行い、漱石の科学観について検討した。東北大学図書館漱石文庫所蔵の漱石手沢本の書き入れ調査を基本とし、同時代ヨーロッパの科学観の把握や社会観に関わる文献調査を行った。具体的にはM.Nordau"Degeneration"、G.Allen"The Colour-Sense"など「文学論ノート」に散見される文献を中心とした。さらに受入研究者である慶應義塾大学・松村友視教授の専門的指導のもと、「近代文学における科学」をテーマとする同教授の博士課程演習に参加、同時代主要作品における科学観との比較検討を行った。(2)「三四郎」(明治四十一年)を中心に、造形芸術的な手法を言語表現に反映させる「断面的文学」の表現が、長編小説においてどのように作用するかを検討し、また作中で「美術」的要素を相対化するものとして取り入れられている「科学」的要素の意義について考察した。また、東北大学図書館漱石文庫所蔵の漱石手沢本の書き入れ調査を行い、漱石が「三四郎」構想に用いたと考えられる美術関連書の調査を行った。具体的にはJ.Ruskin"Modern Painters"全6巻の書き入れについて詳細に調査および記録を行った。◇以上の内容を元に、博士学位論文の内容をさらに再検証・発展させた著書原稿の準備を行い、また合わせて出版社(株式会社 青簡舎)と内容、目次案、ページ数、刊行時期などについて、具体的な打ち合わせを開始した.
