In this study, we focused on fracture-induced osteoblast precursor cells (FOPC), which are the cells accumulated at sites of fracture and committed to the osteoblast lineage, and attempted to establish a new bone induction method using a rat fracture model. Immunohistochemical examination showed the accumulation and proliferation of bone marrow-derived Thy-1 (CD90)-positive osteogenic cells, suggesting their possible involvement in fracture healing.
