A study of the development of coordination skill for the attention to social stimuli in infants with typical development and young children with autism.

This experiment was done to investigate coordination skill for the attention to social stimuli in infants(7-10 month-olds) and young children with pervasive developmental disorder(risk) by using the eye tracker. Videos such as conversation scene between two persons were used as stimuli. As a result, 9-10 month-olds infants had higher coordination skill for the attention to persons and expectation to speak than 7-8 month-olds infants. Young children with pervasive developmental disorder showed coordination skill for the attention to social stimuli as much as 9-10 month-olds infants. But they also showed the difficulties in understanding to the context of the interaction.
