General Comparative Studies between Asia-Pacific War and Massive Violence Today

本研究项目旨在通过交流双方在大规模暴力的起源、战后/后暴力社会的过渡正义、记忆、康复和和解等问题上的研究成果，促进日本关于亚太战争的学术研究和当代世界大规模暴力案例的全球学术研究的发展。本研究项目多次组织国际学者会议进行学术交流。它还注重鼓励研究生和博士后学者进入这一领域，从而形成了一个学术网络，有助于进一步发展当代世界大规模暴力的起因和后果问题的全球研究，这在当今世界日益重要。

This research project aims at contributing to the development of both the Japanese scholarship on the Asia-Pacific War and the global scholarship on the cases of massive violence in the contemporary world primarily by exchanging the achievements of both sides of the scholarship on the genesis of massive violence, issues of transitional justice, memory, rehabilitation, and reconciliation in the postwar/post-violence society.The research project have organized several international meetings of scholars for the purpose of scholastic exchange. It also has put emphasis on encouraging graduate as well as post doctoral scholars on the field, thus accomplished the formation of scholastic network contributing to further development of the global research on the issue of genesis and aftermath of massive violence in the contemporary world, which is of increasing importance in the world today.
