The uses of two Japanese counterparts of "know", "shitteiru" and "wakatteiru" were conceptually and empirically studied, and some epistemologically interesting differences were found between the two Japanese verbs, and therefore their relations with "know" are not straightforward. We also held an international conference to extend this observation to other languages, and provoked relevant debates.

对“知道”的两个日语对应词“shitteiru”和“wakatteiru”的用法进行了概念和实证研究，发现这两个日语动词之间存在一些认识论上有趣的差异，因此它们与“知道”的关系并不简单。我们还召开了一次国际会议，将这一观察推广到其他语言，并引发了相关争论。
