The Study of Japanese and American Diplomatic History on the Foundation of Japanese Language School

本研究的目的是考察1913年日语学校(日语学堂)的创办及其在日本社会中的情况。吉尔伯特·鲍尔斯是友人传教的传教士和董事会成员，他从第一次开始就规划了日本研究中心，而不是语言学校。他的思想并没有改变他的一生。在担任学校代理院长期间，他将学校教育改革为日本研究中心，以满足国内传教士的要求，满足学校的延续问题。

The aim of this research is to consider the foundation of Japanese Language School(Nichigo Gakko)in 1913 and the circumstances in Japanese society. Gilbert Bowles who was a missionary of the Friend' Mission and a menber of the Board of Trustees, had planned the Japanese research center instead of a language school from te first time. His thoughts did not change all his life. When he was an Acting Director in the school, he reformed the school education as a Japanese research center to receive demands from domestic missionaries and meet the continuance problem of the school.
