An aim of this research is to clarifying current situation of hill stations that were constructed by the suzerain in the colony as highland resorts. Hill stations were places of cultural contact in a context of leisure life, and are functioning as tourist destinations even today.By the research into the current situation of hill station, which is one of archetypes of highland resorts, a social role of domestic tourism in a new nation state, have been clarified. In addition, the research clarified a modern meaning of hill station through a survey on amenity migration under global context.
