Octacalcium phosphate (OCP) is considered to be a precursor of biological apatite crystals. The results of our previous studies showed that a new CPC setting composed of OCP and α-TCP had physical properties favorable for use in the clinical setting (OCP-mediated cement). The objective of this study is to evaluate the OCP-mediated cement as a root canal filling material for primary teeth. In this study, we evaluated the effect of particle size of powder component of OCP-mediated cement on the hardening process and sealing ability. This study has indicated that the reduction of the particle size of starting powder had a strong accelerating effect in the hydrolysis of the cement and improving the sealing ability of OCP-mediated cement.
