平成24年度は、主に以下の2点の課題について取り組んだ。1点目は、沖縄県国頭郡東村高江におけるヘリパッド基地移設座り込み反対運動の展開過程を明らかにした。具体的には、8月から9月にかけて、実際に座り込み運動の参与観察を行い、地元住民や支援者、政治団体のメンバーなどへのインタビュー調査を実施し、地域との関係性の分析を行った。「住民の会」を構成するメンバーである「地元住民」の多くは、過去数10年間の間に高江に移り住んできた者である。支援者の多くは、これら「住民」が実践する有機農法を現地で手伝うものもいれば、「地元住民」が全国で開催する音楽イベントに賛同して、応援にかけつけたりする者などが含まれており、これまでの運動論とは異なる「資源動員」のネットワークが形成されていることが明らかとなった。その成果は、日本地理学会2013年春季学術大会において発表した。2点目は、大阪府貝塚市における環境保全事業について、行政と市民はさまざまな活動を通して、どのように協働関係を構築・実践してきたのかについて行政資料や聞き取り調査等から明らかにした。ブナ林の保全に関しては、信仰の対象として五ヶ庄の村の人々によって守られてきたブナ林が現在は、貝塚市・岸和田市・大阪緑のトラスト協会と市民ボランティア団体の協働によって維持されている実態について参与観察的な調査を行った。また近木川流域の活動に関しては、「自然遊学館」に集う市民による「近木っ子探検隊」の結成や「グリーンカレッジ」の設立など、近木川をフィールドにした活動についてキーパーソンへの聞き取りや行政資料の分析を行い、これらの成果を『貝塚市の70年』に寄稿した。
