项目摘要

本年度の研究は、前年度に続きタルドの思想を十九世紀フランスにおける<社会的なもの>の概念の政治的生成の歴史の中に浮かび上がらせる、という方針の下で進められた。タルドをその中に位置づけるべき<社会的なもの>の概念の政治的生成に関する研究が、フランスにおいてもあまり進んでいないという事情に鑑み、タルドの思想へとつながる思想的文脈を把握作業を主に行なった。1、タルドの思想を位置づけるべきポスト革命時代の思想の起点となるルソーの社会契約理論を前年度に引き続き分析した。そこに、超越的権威が不在の近代における社会の自己創設のモデル、個人をそのままの存在として社会へと結び付け、自由と平等を十全に実現する「個人主義的-社会」のモデルを見出した。2、続いて、十九世紀前半の思想(ボナルド、ギゾー、サン=シモンら)において、このルソーの理論が乗り越えられるべきものとして捉えられる過程を問題にした。とりわけ、ギゾーの思想において、ある時点において瞬間的にのみ可能となる抽象的理論としてルソーの社会契約が捉えられ、それに対して、ある独特の持続性をもったものとして<社会的なもの>が浮かび上がってくる過程を分析した。こうしたルソー批判は、社会を構成する個人の意志の直接的で瞬間的な意志に還元されないような、社会のある持続性・不透明さを指し示すものとなる。そして、その不透明さのうちに、社会に不可欠な要素の近代デモクラシー社会特有の現われとしての「社会的権力」や「社会的ヒエラルキー」の問題が浮かび上がってくるのである。模範から模倣者へ、さらに模倣者から別の模倣者へという流れとして社会を捉えるタルドの「模倣」の論理もまた、このような独特な<社会的なもの>の存在を、時間の幅のうちにあらわれてくる集合的力学の中に見るものであると解釈することができよう。以上のように、本年度の研究は、タルドへと続いていくポスト革命の思想の流れを追うものとなった。
