具体的内容として、平成25年度は、第一に、24年度から手がけてきたパブリック・リレーションズと心理学の大衆化をめぐる議論を刊行し、第二に、23年度から手がけてきたアメリカにおける初期応用心理学と視覚文化の関係をめぐる議論をふまえたうえで日本での受容としてまとめ、発表、刊行した。第一のパブリック・リレーションズと心理学の大衆化をめぐる議論は、20世紀前半から中頃の代表的なパブリック・リレーションズ・コンサルタントであり、精神分析の創始者ジークムント・フロイトの甥であったエドワード・バーネイズに焦点を当てた。バーネイズのパブリック・リレーションズの理論と実践に同時代の心理学が与えた影響を明確にするとともに、バーネイズによるアメリカの心理学会のパブリック・リレーションズ活動への関与について明らかにした。第二の20世紀初頭のアメリカにおける初期応用心理学と視覚文化をめぐる近年の研究を踏まえた上で、同時代の代表的な心理学者ヒューゴー・ミュンスターバーグによる応用心理学の多様な領域への着手と映画理論が日本で受容されたあり方を、近年の諸研究の主題と付きあわせ分析した。意義として、第一に、バーネイズに焦点を当てることで、心理学の大衆化を促進したパブリック・リレーションズと、大衆化をすすめつつその専門性を明確にしようと試みた心理学会との相互関係を明らかにしたこと。第二に、ミュンスターバーグの応用心理学の日本での受容を通して、19世紀末から20世紀初頭における心理学の大衆化、応用化の動向に存在したアメリカと日本での並行性と差異のいくつかを明らかにしたことがある。重要性として、それぞれに、応用心理学の諸領域、パブリック・リレーションズ、映画理論と批評など複数の専門領域の重なりあいを歴史的に明らかにしたことがある。
