英文摘要
Suspension cultured cells of sandalwood were treated with various cell death-inducing factors, and the resulting changes in organic solvent extractives of the cultures were qualitatively and quantitatively investigated. It was expected that the heartwood specific fragrant constituents of sandalwood and related compounds might be produced. Some treatments that can steadily induce cell death were identified, but none of such treatments evoked the production of the objective substances. Under some conditions treatment-specific elevation of unknown compounds was observed, which do not appear to be related to the objective substances.
