本研究は、山形県庄内地方の農業奉公人をめぐる語りを基に、奉公人を中心として見えてくる近代日本社会における家族・地城の実態の一端を明らかにすることを目的とする。特に農業奉公人たちの若者としての側面、奉公移動のプロセスやパターンとイエ・ムラの関与の仕方に着目して調査を行ってきた。今年度は、前年度までの調査協力者からの紹介に基づく聞き取り調査のほか、デイサービスセンターでの継続調査を実施した。中心的な調査内容は以下の3点である。・高齢者施設における聞き取り調査 : 2012年3月より遊佐町の高齢者施設「ゆうすい」においてデイサービス通所利用者への聞き取りを実施し、語り手(奉公経験者および元雇い主家族)を探し出す作業。・スノーボール・サンプリングによる聞き取り調査1戸別訪問をして聞き取り調査。・資料収集 : 調査地の各図書館、遊佐町歴史民俗学習館等にて歴史資料や文献の閲覧・複写。また、前年度に遊佐町歴史民俗学習館にて旧高瀬村の農業補習学校と青年学校の名簿資料中に奉公人の記録があることを発見し、閲覧・複写した。その後、1日遊佐町の資料も見つかり、これも町教育委員会の許可を得て閲覧・複写させてもらうことになった。1日高瀬地区の資料についてはほぼ全てエクセルファイル形式での入力作業を終えたが、分析を十分に進めることができなかった。以上の調査により、口頭契約のために資料の残りにくい農業奉公について、報酬(給米)のおおよその相場や昇給の仕組み、奉公先の決定に関わるアクターについての知見を得た。これらの知見を元に現在投稿論文を執筆中である。アウトリーチ活動としては、遊佐町教育委員会の依頼を受け、『遊佐町史』編集委員会に協力員として一部執筆の予定であり、2013年8月19日に編集会議に参加した。2013年4月20日には、調査地における有志の勉強会である遊佐町古文書会から招かれ、「若勢と夜間教育」の題目で講演を行った。
