Ultrasound method for estimating the cross-sectional area of the psoas major muscle.

本研究旨在建立一种估计腰肌大肌横截面积的超声方法。采用MRI测量了11例健康久坐男性腰大肌L4-L5段的肌肉横截面积（CSAMRI）和厚度（MTMRI）。在相应部位获得肌肉厚度（MTUS）超声图像。MTMRI与MTUS的差异无统计学意义。CSAMRI与MTUS呈显著相关。2天MTUS测量的类间相关系数为0.951。结果表明，超声法测定腰肌大肌厚度对腰肌横截面积的估计是有用的。

The present study aimed to develop an ultrasonographic method for estimating the cross-sectional area of the psoas major muscle. The muscle cross-sectional area (CSAMRI) and thickness (MTMRI) of the psoas major muscle at L4-L5 were measured using MRI in 11 healthy sedentary men. Ultrasonographic images of muscle thickness (MTUS) were obtained at the corresponding sites. There was no significant difference between MTMRI and MTUS. CSAMRI was significantly correlated to MTUS. The interclass correlation coefficient of MTUS measurements performed on two separated days was 0.951. The current results indicate that the psoas major muscle thickness determined by the ultrasonographic method is useful for estimating the cross-sectional area of the psoas major muscle.
